Tsukiji Market
Tsukiji Market was a public wholesale market in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan for 83 years from 1935 to 2018. It is also commonly read as “Tsukiji Ichiba”.
It was closed on October 6, 2018; Toyosu Market opened on October 11, and demolition began on the same day. It is one of the 11 central wholesale markets in Tokyo. The market is one of the eleven central wholesale markets in Tokyo, and is the largest in Japan in terms of value (Ota Market is larger in terms of area, but the transaction value is greater than Ota Market).
