Shibamata Teishakuten

Shibamata Teishakuten is a Nichiren Shoshu temple founded in 1629 by two priests, Zennain Nichinada and Tengein Nichiei.
The temple was founded in 1629 by two priests of the Nichiren sect, Zennaiin Nichinada and Tengein Nichiei.
At the end of the 18th century, during the reign of Nichikyo, the 9th abbot, the temple’s Teishakuten began to be worshipped and became known as “Shibamata Teishakuten”.
It became known as “Shibamata Teishakuten”. The anniversary of Teishakuten is considered to be the day of Koshin, and in connection with the worship of Koshin, it attracted many visitors.
After the modern era, the temple was also visited by Soseki Natsume.

Since modern times, Teishakuten has appeared in many literary works such as Soseki Natsume’s “Higan Kagoe”.
